Scholarships

Concordia Lutheran College seeks to recognise, support and promote talented young people. A scholarship creates an opportunity for exceptional students to begin or continue their education at a College which nurtures the potential of every student

The scholarship application is a two-step process for all candidates

1. Register and attend the Scholarship Exam on Sunday 9 February 2025

2. Submit supporting documentation to enrolments@Concordia.qld.edu.au.

Scholarship Applications close on Monday 3 February 2025.

No late applications will be accepted. All applicants are required to sit the test. All supporting documentation attached to the relevant scholarship requirements listed below must be emailed to enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au by the application closing date.

Scholarships are available to Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Communication of results: It is anticipated that scholarship applicants will be advised of the results towards the end of Term 1.

Fees: The entry fee for candidates taking the examination is listed on the Academic Scholarship Test Registration Form. There is no refund for scholarship candidates who absent themselves from the examination.

Testing: Testing is conducted by the independent organisation Edutest, appointed by the College Council. Interviews/auditions and criteria judging will be completed by the College scholarship committee and/or an appropriate delegate.

Decisions: The awarding of a scholarship and financial subsidy of each scholarship shall be determined by the Head of College or delegate and the Scholarship Testing Committee. The offer will not be open to negotiation. Scholarship offer limits are set at 50%.

Availability: Scholarships are available free of means test and are awarded on general results of the exam, formal interview/auditions and supporting documentation.

Expectations: In addition to their scholarship requirements, all students at Concordia Lutheran College are expected to actively participate in a minimum of two (2) co-curricular activities offered within the College that may be relevant to the scholarship.

Scholarships apply to tuition fees only and do not apply to levies or other costs e.g. uniforms.

A scholarship awarded by Concordia Lutheran College forms a confidential arrangement between the College and the family and must not be discussed with other parties. If confidentiality is broken, the scholarship may be revoked.

It should be noted that if the student were to transfer to another Toowoomba school before the end of Year 12, parents will be required to repay the scholarship percentage received from commencement to the conclusion of the student’s enrolment.

The Academic Scholarship

Academic Scholarships providing remission of tuition fees are available to new and existing students commencing at Concordia Lutheran College in 2026.

Tenure: 

For students sitting the Academic Scholarships for Year 7 the tenure of the Scholarship is for Years 7 – 9.

Following a successful review of the Scholarship at the conclusion of Year 9 an application for continuation of the Scholarship will be considered. For students sitting the application for Year 10 the tenure of the Scholarship is for Years 10 – 12.

Scholarships will be reviewed each semester and are subject to continued excellence in academic performance and adherence to the College policies and procedures. Recipients will be required to meet high academic standards each semester and to participate in the cocurricular program offered by the College.

Application Checklist:

  • Register for the test via the button below.
  • Personal statement (typed, minimum 400 words) written by the applicant outlining achievements relating to the scholarship.
  • School reports for 2024.
  • All supporting documentation must be emailed to enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au

Expectations of Scholarship Holders:

  • Be an active participant in the College activities, as determined by key College personnel.
  • Assist with College events and activities as requested by the Leadership team, e.g. Open Days.
  • Maintain an exemplary standard of uniform and personal presentation.
  • Be courteous and respectful to all members of the College community, always demonstrating exemplary behaviour towards other students and staff.
  • Consistently maintain exemplary homework, work ethic and grades.

The Sport Scholarship

The Sports Scholarship provides remission of tuition fees available to new and existing students commencing Year 7 through to Year 11 at Concordia Lutheran College in 2026.

The Scholarship will be awarded on the evidence submitted, overall compulsory general testing plus the interview process.

The Scholarship Exam, prepared by Edutest, will be held in Term 1 of the year prior to entry.

Tenure: 

For students applying for a Sport Scholarship for Year 7, the tenure of the Scholarship is for Years 7 – 9.

Following a successful review of the Scholarship at the conclusion of Year 9 an application for continuation of the Scholarship will be considered. For students sitting the application for Year 10 the tenure of the Scholarship is for Years 10 – 12.

Scholarships will be reviewed each semester and are subject to continued excellence in commitment and adherence to the College policies and procedures. Recipients will be required to meet high academic effort standards each semester and to participate in the cocurricular program offered by the College.

Application Checklist:

  • Completed Sport Scholarship Application Form.
  • Personal statement (typed, minimum 400 words) written by the applicant outlining achievements relating to the scholarship.
  • Scanned documentation showcasing sporting achievements, i.e. Certificates of Achievement, Letters of offer for representative honours etc.
  • Letter/s of reference from coaches and/or sporting club representatives.
  • School reports for 2024.
  • All supporting documentation must be emailed to enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au

Expectations of Sport Scholarship Holders:

  • Act as a College ambassador with a high standard of behaviour always.
  • Full participation in chosen sports for the College, including attendance at all training sessions and representative responsibilities as negotiated with the Head of Department Sport/ Sport Coordinator.
  • Act as a College ambassador with a high standard of behaviour always.
  • Maintain an exemplary standard of uniform and personal presentation.
  • Be courteous and respectful to all members of the College community, demonstrating exemplary behaviour always.
  • Consistently maintain a high effort with exemplary homework, work ethic and grades.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Involvement in and demonstrated support of the Sport and Physical Education Program at current school.
  • Regional, State or National representation in chosen sport/s in recent years and future potential.
  • Diligence and application in sports and academic studies.
  • Overall sound academic performance.
  • Demonstrated a sense of community.
  • Ability to represent the College at sporting competitions such as TSSS and QCIS events.

    The Arts Scholarship

    The Arts Scholarships provide remission of tuition fees available to new and existing students commencing Year 7 through to Year 11 at Concordia Lutheran College.

    The Scholarship will be awarded on the work submitted, overall general testing plus the interview/audition process.

    Tenure: 

    For students applying for The Arts Scholarships for Year 7, the tenure of the Scholarship is for Years 7 – 9.

    Following a successful review of the Scholarship at the conclusion of Year 9 an application for continuation of the Scholarship will be considered. For students sitting the application for Year 10 the tenure of the Scholarship is for Years 10 – 12.

    Scholarships will be reviewed each semester and are subject to continued excellence in arts performance/commitment and adherence to the College policies and procedures. Recipients will be required to meet high academic effort standards each semester and to participate in the cocurricular program offered by the College.

    Application Checklist:

    • Completed Head of College Scholarship Application Form.
    • Personal statement (typed, minimum 400 words) written by the applicant outlining achievements relating to the scholarship.
    • Photocopies of any merit certificates or achievement awards.
    • Photocopies of an applicant’s art credentials (such as shows performed in, significant achievements and workshops participated in).
    • Letter/s of reference from Arts Teachers, other than your classroom teacher.
    • Examination or Eisteddfod reports.
    • School reports for 2024.
    • All supporting documentation must be emailed to enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au

    Expectations of The Arts Scholarship Holders:

    • Full participation in the chosen arts field as a curricular subject.
    • Be an active participant in the extra-curricular program for The Arts at the College, including attendance at all required rehearsals and practice sessions.
    • Maintain an exemplary standard of uniform and personal presentation.
    • Be courteous and respectful to all members of the College community, always demonstrating exemplary behaviour.
    • Consistently maintain a high grade with exemplary homework, work ethic and effort grades.
    • Maintain Academic Good Standing.

    Evaluation Criteria:

    • Involvement in and demonstrated support of the Arts Program at the current school.
    • Diligence and application in studies.
    • Overall sound academic performance.
    • Demonstrated a sense of community.
    • Ability to represent the College at arts-related competitions or performances such as the school musical and other events.
    • Demonstrated skill in the chosen arts discipline.

    Interview/auditions: 

    Once the exam has been completed, short-listed applicants will be required to have an audition and interview with the Head of Department (The Arts) and/or relevant College Staff to discuss their application and suitability for The Arts Scholarship.

    The Rural Scholarship (Boarding)

    The Rural Scholarship provides remission of tuition fees available to new and existing students commencing Year 7 through to Year 11 in boarding at Concordia Lutheran College.

    The Scholarship will be awarded on the results of the Scholarship Examination, Interview and Application.

    The Scholarship Exam, prepared by Edutest, will be held in Term 1 of the year prior to entry.

    Suitable applicants for the rural scholarship will have demonstrated commitment to their studies and extra-curricular activities. They must be based in a rural or regional location and be applying for a position as a boarding student at Concordia Lutheran College.

    Tenure: 

    For students applying for the Rural Scholarships for Year 7 the tenure of the Scholarship is for Years 7 – 9.

    Following a successful review of the Scholarship at the conclusion of Year 9 an application for continuation of the Scholarship will be considered. For students sitting the application for Year 10 the tenure of the Scholarship is for Years 10 – 12.

    Scholarships will be reviewed each semester and are subject to continued excellence in academic effort, behaviour and adherence to the College policies and procedures. Recipients will be required to meet high standards each semester and to participate in the cocurricular program offered by the College.

    Application Checklist:

    • Completed Scholarship Application Form.
    • Personal statement (typed, minimum 400 words) written by the applicant outlining achievements relating to scholarship.
    • School reports for 2024.
    • Evidence of outside-of-school volunteering/ and or extracurricular activities.
    • References x 3 from respected community members in their hometown that are not related to the applicant.
    • All supporting documentation must be emailed to enrolments@concordia.qld.edu.au

    Expectations of Rural Scholarship Holders:

    • Be an active participant in the College activities, as determined by key College personnel.
